Our Story
The goal of the Daniel Dacosta memorial baseball tournament is to help raise awareness and encourage conversation about mental health.
Daniel Dacosta passed away due to suicide on September 3, 2016, at the age of 18 after battle with anxiety. It is the intention of the Daniel Dacosta tournament to commemorate him through one of his favourite sports, while raising money and awareness for mental health initiatives. It is thanks to the community and the Royal York Baseball Association that we have been able to have 2 successful baseball tournaments thus far and hope that we can keep that tradition going for one more year. Our mission is to continue to open up lines of communication within our community, and remind everyone of all the health and support available for those who are struggling with mental health challenges. |
